Taiwan's legislature remained paralyzed today in what is likely the last day of the session.

Once again, lawmakers failed to come to a consensus on the statute that governs cross-strait relations.

Premier Su Zhen-chang said today he hoped the US could help Taiwan to join high-profile international organizations.

Meeting with deputy US trade representative Karan Bhatia, Su said that he hoped that in addition to working closer with Taiwan on the trade front ... that US officials could fully support Taiwan's bids to gain observer status in the World Health Organization and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
